Depending on your age and sex, you can participate in any of these screening programs.
Screening Overview

In Curaçao, 1 in every 7 women is diagnosed with breast cancer. Survival rates depend largely on the stage of the tumor. Catching it early, when it is small is key. In those stages the patient has no symptoms yet. A mammogram is the most effective way we have of detecting breast cancer before it becomes deadly.

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable and treatable forms of cancer, as long as it is detected early and managed effectively. This screening is used to test women for the risk of having cervical cancer. In Curaçao, Cervical cancer occurs most frequently in women between 25 and 65 years of age. That is why we invite these women for this screening.

We just need a sample of your poo to rule out colon cancer. Blood in your poo could be an indication of polyps or cancer. You do a poo test, called FIT-test, at home and bring it to us or to ADC or MLS. We will inform you within ten working days whether further testing is needed.

Preparing for my Surveillance Exam (colonoscopy)
If the lab results of your poo test (FIT test) shows traces of blood, we may recommend doing a surveillance exam (also know as a colonoscopy). This simple procedure involves going in your body with a thin device that has a microscopic camera which allows the physician to see the insides of your colon. If any polyps are encountered they will be removed immediately and painless.
We invite you in for an intake conversation and guide you through the whole process from start to finish.
The Caribbean Prevention Center has its own stat-of-the-art colonoscopy center and our nurses are well-trained and specialize themselves for this procedure.
